I’ve had a love affair with all things earrings since I was a child, running around the house with my moms clip-ons and a scarf as a cape.
Oversized earrings have made a tremendous comeback. Dolce and Gabbana have been paving the way for years, but the rest of the populace have finally caught up to the exotic, the fabulous, the chic oversized earrings. There’s something pretty striking about a woman who can rock great accessories.
My favorite look is a tee, a pair of jeans, booties and a great pair of oversized earrings. They make a great statement piece without you losing the luxury of comfort.

I’m loving these styles from Mango and H&M!
You can find amazing pairs at Mango, Zara, H&M etc. etc.
We moved into this gorgeous old house and I’m loving playing around with the different rooms. It has this captains house vibe to it so it inspired my sailor look. It’s all about detail! Experiment with different ways to tuck in a shirt, it’s one of those key pieces that everyone should at least have a couple of options in. This is a classic Ralph Lauren button up mens shirt that I stole from my husband back when we were friends.
I can honestly, and positively say that I love my skin. I’ve putting oils and all sorts of lotions daily on my skin since my teens because I love having that fresh summer glow. My tried and proven ways of having great skin has been tested from the winters in New England to the hot, hot, hot summer days in California.
Here are 7 steps to amazing summer skin tried and proven by me!
If you haven’t gotten into the habit of waxing, I’d say to just do it. I always hated it immensely, but having done it a couple of times I honestly couldn’t go back to solely shaving. Shaving is fine for emergencies, but I love waxing anything that can be waxed including my legs, bikini area and sometimes the tops of my arms because it gives a much smoother look and feel compared to shaving. It also lasts a whole lot longer (up to 4 weeks). When you shave you irritate the top of your skin and quickly develop bumps, in grown hairs, not to mention nicks and scratches etc. Ouch! Waxing also takes off dead skin and leaves you with a nice smooth glowing finish. Now you’re on your way to that summer glow! My favorite wax is Moom wax.
This is the mother of all things to do as a woman. At night after a shower I prefer to use oil all over, and I find that all natural and organic coconut oil is the absolute best to use, but I’ve also loved using a mixture of essential oils with vitamin E and so on. The company Yves Roches has an amazing selection. (Their Monoi Oil is to die for). Your skin is immediately infused with moisture as your skin soaks in the goodness. In the morning I use an Argan oil infused body butter like this one all over, and almond oil for my face. The almond oil is very light and doesn’t weigh on the skin. I always try to use lotions and body butters that are free of parabens and other harmful chemicals. Burts’ Bees also makes an amazing super thick moisturizer for ultra dry skin. Here is where I find the coconut, essential and argan oils.
If you’re not waxing, or between waxes, it’s critical that you do this. Use a loofa sponge, a pumice stone or even a back washer brush to scrub your body all over, at least once a week. This way you get rid of dead, flaky skin that gives you that ashy look, and it also prevents in-grown hairs. Remember to be gentle, no need to take all your skin off!
I love taking hot baths infused with whatever oils I have on hand. I love those coconut, argan or essential oil mixture. When you’re in the tub your pores open up to reduce over-heating, and your skin is soft and supple allowing the oils to soak in nicely. When you dry off you’ll find your skin feeling extra soft and glowing beautifully.
5. Drinking Water
We all obviously know that drinking water is the best way to get healthy, glowing skin. It cleanses you from the inside and washes away all those impurities.
If you’re ready to have a nice summer tan try this self-tanner, I’ve used it before and it’s amazing. It’ll look extra great used on top of your now gorgeous glowing skin!
When I have a nice tan I like to high-light parts of my body with a very subtle bronzer. Usually the tops of my shoulders and arms, collar bones and naturally the cheeks. This give your overall appearance that dewy summer skin look.
Now you know how to get that amazing summer glow! Give me feedback and let me know if you have questions and how it worked for you!
We’ve seen it on the streets, and we’ve seen it on the runways, but that 70’s trend is coming back, albeit with a modern twist, and it’s coming back full force. From culottes, to flared denim, to flowery, flowing dresses and billowing coats, these pieces will be around for a while bringing texture, color and prints to center stage. I’ve collected the top 20 outfit inspirations from that decade and given us a mood board we can glean from. Brigitte Bardot, Jane Birkin and Debbie Harry are some of our leading ladies in this collection.

There’s nothing quite like having to piece together an outfit that looks amazing during the day, and the night. Whether you work in an office and you’re about to go on a date, or you’re out on the town sight-seeing but also have to grab drinks, or crash the latest club. Finding the perfect outfit to consider both these things can be oh so stressful. Never fear, however, yours truly has come through for you in the greatest way.
Layering a top over a dress is a neat way to change your look completely. Pair your new ensemble with sneakers and your simple outfit gets a fun twist. The difference in textures here (leather-y and silk-y) also make for an interesting ensemble.
At the end of the day, simply toss the things you aren’t wearing into the tote, throw on some earrings and heels, pull out your clutch and you’re good as gold!
I’ve had a love hate relationship with distressed denim for a while now. First I’m obsessed, and find a pair that I love and cherish. And then I hate them and throw them away with anger and fury. But then I slowly love them again and so the cycle goes. That being said I’ve managed to find my way through about 3 or 4 solid pairs of distressed denim. Today is the day I’ve decided to love them again and have, thus, acquired a pair, this being with a handy pair of scissors and some south african ingenuity and innovative thinking. I prefer wearing faded black jeans, and I gave them some cigarette legs to try something different.
The way to totally rock distressed denim without looking poor is to pair it with “nicer” things. A loose button down and some kitten heels with some tasteful accessories ought to pull your whole look together. Try a big comfy turtle neck sweater as a replacement if the weather has a chill.
This look surprisingly has maintained a steady following throughout the last few years and it doesn’t seem to be going anywhere, any time soon. As much as you, me and the girl next door loves runway chic, we also do love the everyday shabby glam look. Invest in a nice handbag and other accessories and your look is a go!
Have fun trying new things!
This quintessential American look has gotten a makeover in the last few years. Denim on denim went from a bad 90’s vibe, women with big hair and bad habits, to the streets of Paris and London in what has appeared to be a revival of the laid back chic look. Minimalism being everything right now, this look adds a sense of vibey glory to that wardrobe and lifestyle.

This is by far my favorite Spring look, and, being a creature of habit, I’ll end up wearing something to this effect any day that’s above 65 degrees. This look includes an oversized tank, black high waisted skinny jeans (my staple go-to) and some fun ankle booties.
The top and jeans are H&M and the booties are Aldo. This girl loves a great deal!
